Clinical Scientist

Informed Genomics Ltd (IGL), is a privately held, UKAS-accredited laboratory, that aims to provide accessible genomic testing with the mission of enabling earlier diagnosis, personalised treatments, and improved patient outcomes.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a HCPC-Registered Clinical Scientist to join our expanding team. The successful candidate will have a demonstrable commitment to a career in laboratory genomics with a broad experience in diagnostic testing, including interpretation and clinical reporting for complex heterogeneous disorders. Experience in hereditary cancer or cardiac genetics, along with a proven track record of designing and delivering service developments, in particular Next Generation Sequencing applications, is advantageous.

Applicants should possess excellent communication and team-working skills, be able to demonstrate an ability to meet tight deadlines, have resilience and work with a considerable degree of autonomy within a small team of Clinical Scientists.

Key responsibilities:


Perform highly accurate genetic analysis on material derived from a wide range of pathological samples


Interpret the findings and provide a diagnosis or make clinical judgements based on these results


Communicate highly specialised and complex scientific information in a timely manner, through accurate and concise clinical reports


Contribute to the evaluation, validation and implementation of new methods and technologies


Produce relevant procedures and policies


To work with the team to ensure achievement of and adherence to the standards required of a UKAS accredited laboratory, in close liaison with the Quality Manager


To maintain continued professional development to an adequate level


To undertake other appropriate duties as required

Person Specification:

HCPC-Registration as a Clinical Scientist in Genomics (Essential)
Significant post-training experience in clinical diagnostic genetics
Experience and competence in writing clinical diagnostic reports to the required standards
Competent in the use of MS Office and relevant interpretation tools/scientific databases
